Set in France in the 19th-century, Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) is an ex-prisoner who broke his parole and has been pursued for many years by ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe). After changing his identity and becoming a factory owner Jean Valjean agrees to care for
a factory worker's daughter. This decision changes their lives forever.
After taking care of her for many years, Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) falls in love with Marius (Eddie Redmayne) much to Valjean's dismay as he feels protective of her. Finally learning to accept their love he helps Marius in the Paris uprising in 1832.
Les Miserables brings together love, passion, hope and emotion with beautiful storytelling and singing from start to finish. The songs feel so powerful and intense you cannot help but feel immersed within the story and emotional at sad scenes. Les Miserables is a timeless movie that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Beautiful performances from all cast members with Anne Hathaway deservedly winning an Oscar for her performance perhaps Hugh Jackman should have received one for his performance too.
This movie will go down as one of my favourites and I hope to one day watch this musical performed in the West End in London.
